Glitch Project Final Images + Artist Statement

During this project, I surrendered myself fully to randomness. I started with the random word generator and took those words into midjourney. I kept repeating this process with different numbers and sizes of the random words. After doing this process at least 20 times, I put in the set of words “tribe reputation inspiration complete instrument tool flourish gallon ribbon” and received a set of 4 images that immediately jumped out to me. The images were organic and abstract, not really containing any specific subject matter, but to me reflected a sense of living and human emotions. I decided to use all 4 of the images made from these words as the foundation of my series. I wanted to take the feelings of life and the strange feeling of connection I had to these abstract images and bring them to life, to strengthen what I was originally feeling in order to portray a theme. To do this, I first glitched each image in audacity to create at least 3 glitched versions. If I was unsatisfied by the amount of glitch achieved, I took the glitched version and further glitched it by using a text editor. Then I took all my glitched versions of their respective image and created gifs to show the living aspect of the original images. I used techniques of blending and opacity in order to create a breathing sort of effect as well as a heartbeat like effect. I had trouble achieving that effect for all the images, so I leaned more towards showing the unplanned chaos of life with more stutter like gifs and complexly layered images utilizing a multitude of the different glitched images.
