This article is a super interesting read when thinking about the amount of money people spend on NFTs for today. It is crazy to me the amount of money that people spend on NFTs, so I can only imagine how insane people thought this guy was back in 2014 when NFTs hadn't started up quite yet. No wonder this gif sold for nowhere near the asking price. I love that he sort of was the trailblazer for the world of NFTs and that the subject matter speaks to the ridiculous prices NFTs can reach today. It’s almost like Micheal Green could see into the future, he met the energy of the NFT creators who put in little effort yet still sell for millions, just like his muse Jeff Koons. He was somewhat right by saying “The deflation itself is a statement where it is once again time to destroy the values of the tradition of modern art and for our culture to evolve to the logical next step”, but he couldn’t foresee the positive impact for digital artist who finally have a well know mechanism to sell their art and make a living from it. The values of modern art and the art world in general have been forced to evolve and change, but is that necessarily a bad thing? The art world is extremely slow to pick up change, but it has opened up opportunities for more than classically trained artists to make more of an impact.
